Survivor Mode is the challenge-based, single player competitive mode of Alien: Isolation. Whenever you successfully complete a challenge, the game uplaods your completion time and score from optional objectives, bonuses and multipliers to a global leaderboard of players on your platform.

Challenges

Alien: Isolation ships with a single Survivor Mode challenge, The Basement. The Creative Assembly will make additional challenges available via paid Downloadable Content (DLC).

NOTE: Neither the Crew Expendable DLC nor the Last Survivor DLC are classed as Survivor Mode content.

General Challenge Tips:

  • If you want to rank on the leaderboards, time is of the essence. Even if you aren't worried about time, completing the Optional Objectives early will net you a bigger score when the Multipliers kick in.
  • Be willing to take a chance on walking; even if the Alien is close by, it may not notice you, especially if it's heading the other way.
  • Collect every available component and item of scrap in the ready room, then see whether you can craft anything from them. Making an item before you exit the ready room will net you the Engineer bonus before the clock even starts running and allow you to do so without using up precious seconds in the radial and crafting menus during the challenge.

The Basement

Objective: Escape from the Alien through the elevator on the top floor.

Optional Objectives:

  • Collect 2 crew cards (Maximum: 7500 points): Locate and pick up two ID tags located randomly on the map.
  • Delete the system data (Maximum: 7000 points): Find and use the standing computer terminal on the upper floor.
  • Secure the stairwell (Maximum: 5000 points): Use the system access tuner on the keypad at the bottom entrance of the stairwell, locking the bottom floor off.

Notes:

  • The Flamethrower is available in the ready room to characters who don't already have it. However, it replaces the flamethrower fuel tank (50) otherwise available in the same location, so characters without the Flamethrower by default will only start the challenge with a maximum of 50 fuel.

Severance

Severance will be available in the Corporate Lockdown DLC.

Scorched Earth

Scorched Earth will be available in the Corporate Lockdown DLC.

Loose Ends

Loose Ends will be available in the Corporate Lockdown DLC.

Characters

Amanda

Amanda Ripley is the only character available for Survivor Mode in the base game.

Equipment:

Amanda Tips:

  • Having the Noisemaker as her blueprint means that Amanda can most likely craft an item and score the Engineer bonus before she even leaves the ready room.

Dallas

Dallas is available through the Crew Expendable DLC.

Equipment:

Blueprints:

Dallas Tips:

  • Not having the system access tuner means Dallas cannot secure the stairwell in The Basement.
  • Not having the Flamethrower as a default item can make Dallas a good choice if you want to earn the No Flamer Multiplier.

Ellen

Ellen Ripley is available through the Crew Expendable DLC.

Equipment:

Blueprints:

Ellen Tips:

  • Though the Flashbang is a simple blueprint, there's rarely any Bonding Agent in the Basement ready room; Ellen will need to scavenge before earning the Engineer bonus in that challenge.

Parker

Parker is available through the Crew Expendable DLC.

Parker Tips:

  • Having the Noisemaker and Flashbang in his blueprints means that Parker can most likely craft an item and score the Engineer bonus before he even leaves the ready room.
  • Not having the Flamethrower as a default item can make Parker a good choice if you want to earn the No Flamer Multiplier.

Scoring

2014-10-25 00001

Survivor Mode scores successful challenges by totalling your points (if any) from Optional Objectives and Bonuses, then multiplying that total by your total number of Multiplier points.

Optional Objectives

These vary from challenge to challenge, though there are normally three per challenge.

Bonuses and Multipliers

These are extra points you can earn by performing or failing to perform certain actions during the challenge.

Bonuses:

  1. Engineer (3000 points): Scored for crafting at least one item during the challenge.
  2. No preparation (4000 points): Leave the first room without taking anything.
  3. No Hiding (2000 points): Scored if you do not hide in a locker or rolling cabinet during the challenge (hiding underneath a desk or table doesn't disqualify you).
  4. Gatherer (5000 points): Scoring method as yet unknown, but appears to involve picking up components.

Multipliers:

  1. Empty handed (+3): Do not pick up any thing (you can take ID cards).
  2. Never Detected (+3): Earned if you avoid the Alien's senses throughout the challenge.
  3. No Flamer (+2): Earned if you do not fire the Flamethrower during the challenge.
  4. No Tracker (+4): Do you really need an explanation ?

Some of you may be wondering how do you get "Empty handed" and "Gatherer" + "engineer" at the same time. Looks like you have to make a choice between multiplier or bonuses. To share my personal experience, i get more points with the bonuses so far.
